For the Environment, we believe the relations of a physical, chemical or biological governing life on the planet, and the area where developing human activities and the lives of animals and plants.
The Environment is composed of goods of common use of the people, therefore, of enjoyment diffuse, and essential to the healthy quality of life for present and future generations and involves, among other things, the fauna, flora, surface water, groundwater, terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, soil, subsoil, air and atmospheric landscapes.
According to the Federal Constitution (CF, art 225, caput), everyone is entitled to the environment ecologically balanced, and the common use of the people, and essential to the healthy quality of life, imposing to the Public Power, and the duty to the community it defends and preserves it for the present and future generations.
What differentiates us from other beings is the self-consciousness, and the ability to reflect, judge and print significant changes in the natural environment. This condition puts us in a position of responsibility. We can change the course of history. We can destroy, but to build; We can degrade, as recover.
We have the opportunity to take an attitude of taking care of the Earth. We are the only species that can do this. |
